No, it is not necessary to contact a professor in advance as it will not affect your admission result or scholarship decision. However, if you are applying for the Ph.D. program and feel the need to discuss your research interests and study plans, you may proceed to contact professors after doing some research about the expertise of the faculty members. It's important to note that the admissions office cannot advise on which faculty member to contact, so you should make your own decision in this regard.

Unfortunately, no. In compliance with the Decree issued by Korean Ministry of Justice, expected graduates are NOT eligible to apply to KDI School except for the students from Korean or Japanese universities. All applicants must have fully graduated from the university and hold the official degree certificate when they are applying to KDI School.

The school has various scholarships to provide for our international students, ranging from internal resources to sponsorship from our partner institutions. All of these scholarships will cover full tuition waiver and a monthly stipend during the study period in Korea, at the very least. However, applicants cannot apply for a specific scholarship as it will be decided by the school according to their eligibilities and performance during the selection process.

These are the estimated monthly living expenses for living on-campus in Korea. ① Dormitory (shared, double): 200,000 KRW ② Meals: 540,000 KRW ③ Books and Study Materials: 100,000 KRW ④ Insurance & Miscellaneous Expenses: 160,000 KRW. The entering class each year is approximately 240 Korean students and 200 international students.

We are on a trimester system: the Spring Semester (12 weeks) begins in February, the Summer Semester (12 weeks) in May, and the Fall Semester (12 weeks) in September. New students will begin their studies in either the Spring or Fall semesters, depending on the academic term to which they are applying. Only Ph.D. students will begin their studies in the Spring term.

The interviews are conducted in May~June for Fall admissions and in October~November for Spring admissions.

The interview is usually conducted for 10 to 15 minutes via video conference call. Please prepare yourself for the interview with a focus on your motivation, study(research) plan, and future career goals, etc.
