How much does it cost to use student health services from school?
There are no charges for services provided by the KDI School nurse during regular office hours at Student Health Services.Students who require services, prescriptions, or referrals beyond the services available at KDI School, are financially responsible for all off-campus medical services.

What medications are available in the Health Center?
You can receive OTC (Over-The-Counter) medications commonly available in general pharmacies such as acetaminophen (Tylenol or Paracetamol) or ibuprofen (Advil).Since I am not a physician, you have to visit a local clinic to receive a prescription medicine such as antibiotics or diabetes medicines.

Do I have to make an appointment prior to a visit?
Appointment is not required. Our services are available on a first come, first-served basis.Please note that faculty and staff members as well as researchers and employees at KDI Institute also visit the Health Center so you may have to wait for your turn if the nurse is occupied with other patients.

What about after？hours emergencies?
When the health center is closed:1. For emergencies, call 9112. For urgent issues that cannot wait until the health center is open, several urgent care and Emergency Room facilities are available:- Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital (20 min)- NK Sejong Hospital (15 min)3. For other questions, contact the Housemaster or DA on duty.

I just arrived in Korea and don’t have the Korean National Health Insurance. Can I still visit a physician?
Of course, you can. Until you receive your ARC (Alien Registration Card), you are covered by a private health insurance aranged by the Student Affairs Division. Once you receive your ARC card, you will be automatically enrolled in the Korean National Health Insurance System. Don’t forget to pay your monthly bill in order to keep your insurance active.

Your medical bills will be a little more expensive. I would strongly encourage you to solve this issue prior to visiting any clinic by calling the Korean National Health Insurance System via 033-811-2000.

Does the school nurse issue any official for Absenteeism and Notification of Illness?
Student Health Services does not routinely provide class absence excuses. Conveying information regarding illness to the professor is the student’s responsibility. Excuses from the class are an academic, not a medical policy.
